DOREL DISTRIBUTION CANADA PRODUCT ADVISORY
Montreal, August 6, 2009 — Dorel Distribution Canada is issuing a voluntary expansion of the public notice announced in January 2009 to repair the Safety 1st SmartLight Stair Gate model # 42111. The Safety 1st SmartLight Stair Gate is white metal, with a gray handle and a motion sensor nightlight that illuminates on approach. The model number (42111) is located on a sticker on the underside of the handle panel.
The hinges mounting the gate to the wall can break posing a potential fall hazard to children when used at the top of the stairs. The expansion includes all remaining manufacturing date codes that were not included in the previous public notice.
Remedy:
Consumers should visit the Dorel Juvenile Group website athttp://safetynotice.djgusa.com/stair-gate/ to verify if their model is included in this advisory. If their model is included in this advisory the consumer should complete the online order form to obtain their free repair kit. Consumers should not return product to retail stores.
